A Job Well Done

Cambridge was one of only 20 Iowa companies presented with this honor, recognizing the extraordinary support of our employees who serve in the Iowa National Guard and Reserve.

Dan Sullivan accepts the Above and Beyond Award on behalf of Cambridge at the ESGR conference in West Des Moines.
We were nominated for this award by Andrew Bowers who is a trading supervisor for our Asset Management and Product Services Team. Andrew returned to Cambridge this past September after serving a year-long tour of duty in Afghanistan. He is an intelligence Staff Sergeant with the Infantry Battalion out of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Andrew has been in the reserves for 15 years and this was his second tour of duty. He shared that the decision to serve was tougher this time because he had to leave behind his wife and daughter.
I noticed a consistent theme as each firm’s nomination letters were read – commitment, integrity on behalf of all who served, and flexibility and kindness of all their employers. Each soldier expressed how much the little things meant to them while they were overseas, whether it was care packages from their coworkers or the knowledge that there was a support system available for their family back home. They were all thankful for their company’s support of their decision to serve and the welcome home they received while transitioning back into their day-to-day “work life”.
We talk about the Cambridge culture being one of our greatest assets as a company and consistently try to apply our core values – commitment, flexibility, integrity, and kindness -to everything we do. Not only was I honored to know that as whole, our company is truly upholding those values, but our individual associates are implementing them in their lives as well. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Andrew and his fellow soldiers for their sacrifices for our country. I have a great deal of pride in knowing that each and every one of our associates are living these values not just at work but in all they do.
I am proud to be part of the Cambridge team and congratulate everyone on a job well done.
